Why I'm going LUXE.
From handbags at H&M to handbags at Target, back in 2016 I decided to take it to the next level and opt in for designer brand handbags. I went on this crazy shopping frenzy and could not stop buying Kate Spade! I mean why not? Their bags are structured, classic looking, very dainty - they are so me! Until I finally realized that... I went crazy with these impulsive purchases - just like I've gon' crazy with purchases from fast fashion stores.
I have so many KS bags - and when I made an attempt to sell some on Poshmark - no one was interested in them. Not a soul - at least not for the price I was selling them for. Come on, I spent like... $200.00 - $400.00 on these bags. I'm going to have to sell them for $25.00 to make a sale? No way! They're still gorgeous bags, I rather keep them and STILL wear them. Probably display them in my future walk in closet? You know, on some... 'started from the bottom now we're here kind of thing.' Yes. I am a cornball. But yes... to display how far I've come along in regards to my handbag collection... when I upgrade to LUXE DESIGNER BAGS.
Am I shaming Tory Burch? Michael Kors? Coach? Kate Spade - absolutely not. I would much rather spend my hard earned money on those brands rather than designer mirror replicas (like some people do) or handbags from fast fashion stores that will only last me a year (if that). I definitely recommend anyone who is starting off to purchase from these brands because they will most definitely complete your outfit - I've always gotten great compliments when I wear these out.
However, the issue is the investments - they are not. The depreciating value is crazy - like driving a car off the lot. You cant sell these handbags like you could sell a Louis Vuitton Speedy if it no longer serves you. Or a YSL Wallet on Chain Bag. & let's not even mention the quality. A few of my KS bags are already creased and I've barely worn them out; they're pretty much new.
This, is why I'm going Luxe - not just with handbags but also with clothing. 4 top quality blouses that will last you years to come is a better investment than 10 cheap fashionable blouses that WILL fall apart upon a wash cycle.
Stay tuned for a future post on how I will purchase
the items I have an eye on.
